Joseph Wambia runs Wambia Capital LLC, a Registered Investment & Risk Advisory firm based in Maryland specializing in managing investment portfolios for US institutional investors in African marketable securities, project finance and private equity; raising capital (debt, equity, insurance and guarantees) for companies investing in emerging markets with a principal focus on Africa; and performing due diligence, risk-based audits for clients, and advisory services in the areas of African capital markets finance and development finance.
The Company has Representative Offices in Wilmington (DE), London, Manama (Bahrain), Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Kampala, and Harare through a network of advisers and strategic partners. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) recently selected Wambia Capital as a partner in its prestigious Enterprise Development Network (EDN), which serves to extend OPIC’s outreach to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Joseph Wambia has a long track record of servant leadership among the African immigrant community at large, and the Kenyan immigrant community in particular. Besides serving for over 20 years as the Founding President of the World Bank/IMF Kenya Staff Association, Mr. Wambia has also served as Treasurer and Secretary-General of the World Bank/IMF Africa Society, an organization representing the African staff of the two institutions. He is frequently called upon to provide advice and leadership on Kenyan and African issues at the World Bank/IMF and in the broader Kenyan and African immigrant communities at large.
Joseph Wambia mentioned in an interview with the Christian Science monitor that his company will be opening a hedge fund to invest in Africa. It will be called the Wambia Africa Fund.
