Helen Mwai is the owner of Viatu Shoes, a wholesaler and retailer of quality East African footwear and accessories. Her passion is to bring well-constructed leather products made in Kenya and surrounding countries to the U.S. market. She seeks new and established retailers to help market Viatu’s products to a wider audience. Her website Viatu Shoes features ladies’ and mens’ shoes, handbags and masai beaded belts. She is an exhibitor at the World Shoe Association trade show held every August in Las Vegas, NV.
The Treasurer and Co-Founder of Helping Hand Foundation (USA), Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high school and trade school scholarships to deserving Kenyan children who would otherwise not be able to continue their education, she works with six other members of the Board of Directors to increase awareness of HHF(USA) and raise funds so more children can be assisted.
She has spent the last 15 years working in commercial real estate, most recently with a large insurance company owning several large office buildings in downtown Washington, D.C. where she has held a real estate license
Despite living in the U.S. for 20 years, Helen is more dedicated than ever to play her small part to help Kenya’s global market position for the benefit of as many Kenyans as possible. She graduated Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a degree in Business Administration.
