After a lot of hard work and long studio hours, her single is ready for the world. Evashia Mwikhali, Simply known as Evashia, is a Kenyan pop/ R&B recording and performing artist. Evashia was born in the United States and raised in Kenya where she attended St. Annes Mumias school and then Ntinda View College in Kamapala, Uganda.
She moved back to the United States in 2006 and soon joined Portland Community College in Oregon to take vocal lessons, music composition and writing. She is also taking piano and guitar lessons. Before Evasha embarked on her solo career, she performed with several bands around Portland, Oregon.
According to Evashia, finding a good producer who understands your music direction in a culture that is as diverse as the U.S. is a big challenge. When she met producer, Leo Cern, Evashia was elated. “His production just brings out the best in me,” she says. Evashia’s plan is to represent Kenya and Africa in the diaspora by taking her music to the highest level possible. Evashia describes her music as R&B, pop and African crossover.
Evashia is currently working on her debut album that’s due for release in the summer of 2011. Her first commercial single ‘Njoo Nami’ (Come with me in Swahili) in now available for sampling and download.
