Chris Froome to lead Team Sky at the Vuelta a España

Chris Froome is slated to lead Team Sky at the Vuelta a España in after taking the race leader’s red jersey.  He had just battled his way back to health from a bout of bilharzia (schistosomiasis), a disease caused by parasitic worms.

Chris Froome (Photo-Fotoreporter Sirotti) Froome hopes to continue this positive trend as the Vuelta heads into the mountains again on Tuesday with a summit finish at Estación de Montaña Manzaneda.

Froome wants to hold on to the lead in honor of Txema Gonzalez who passed away last year in the same competition of a bacterial infection.

Froome has been a professional biker since 2008.  This win has started a keen amount of interest in him, should he choose to leave Team Sky.  Teams interested are from the US, Denmark, France, and an unnamed European team.

Congratulations, Froome, your career looks very promising.
